I noticed that my central air conditioner in my house was blowing air but not blowing cold air. I went outside and noticed that my outdoor air conditioner condenser fan was running fine but the compressor wasn’t making any noise. Any suggestions?
I looked at the fuse box and there are two fuses…is one for the compressor and one for the fan on the condenser…cause like I said, the fan on the condenser does turn on.

I have a brand new Amana seer 16 heat pump system. When the heat kicks on the air handler seems to be just circulating air. It doesn’t even blow a little warm. The compressor outside does not kick on at all in heat mode and within a minute or so the thermostat flashes AUX HEAT the fan starts moving air faster then the air warms a little. Shouldn’t the compressor turn on in heat mode?

We live in Missouri and have an AC unit and furnace - we’re considering a heat pump unit instead - the house is approx. 2500 sq. feet with a main living level and basement. Will we be able to keep the house comfortable - around 75 degrees all year - with the heat pump?

My husband and I inherited a large window unit air conditioner from a relative who recently passed away. Unfortunately, it is too big to be able to place on the only window we have in our apartment, and unfortunately the apartment doesn’t have air conditioning, only heating.

Is there a way to still be able to use the unit, placing it somewhere indoors?

This is something totally new to both of us, and don’t know what to do.

When my heat pump goes into heating mode, it makes a loud and fast clicking noise. It does not do this in a/c, emergency heat, or fan mode. Also, with every click, the thermostat dims. I know that I need to have it fixed, but how serious of an issue am I looking at? I have read that it may be a relay, or the mother board, but I think that it may also have something to do with the electrical wiring.

I have a home I only use on weekends. which has a fairly modern heat pump. I have heard that I should keep the temp the same during the week when I am not there as on weekends as this would be more energy efficient since the emergency heat would not be needed. Up til now I have been dropping the temp to 55 degrees during the week and then bringing it up when I arrive on the weekend. I am located in the Carolinas where it does really cool off during the winter. Which do you think uses less energy?

Does a heat pump serve as both the AC and the furnace?

Both my AC and furnace are 20 years old. I am trying to determine if I should replace each individually or consider a heat pump; however, I am not entirely sure I understand how a heat pump works or what it is.
